| Summary: | I feel that my greatest asset lies in that my past experience and hobbies have covered a wide range of countryside-related activities, not only in Conservation, but also in Horticulture and Greenkeeping. For example, my knowledge on wild flowers is excellent and I am equally as good on garden escapes, which complements my skills even further.
After gaining a degree in Conservation Biology at the University of Bolton in 2001, I spent the next four years trying to find a suitable role before realising how difficult it is to enter the industry. I have since surprised myself by finding work in other technical industries, such as in I.T., but I am still disappointed that I never found work in Conservation where my real passion lies. I recently decided to begin looking for work in Conservation again in the hope that this time my experience in I.T. and Horticulture might make a difference. |

| Summary: | I now have over ten years postgraduate experience in countryside management.
Unfortunately, due to a flair-up of tendonitis in my wrists whilst chainsawing last year, a hand specialist recommended that I should avoid exposing myself to excessive periods of heavy manual work. Therefore my previous employer decided that I was no longer able to carry out my full range of duties and gave me a capability payment in December 2009.
Therefore, I am now looking for work with less emphasis on practical habitat management. Taking my experience and transferable skills into account, I consider myself suitable for fields of work such as environmental education, people engagement, ecology, Rights of Way, or training. However, I am quite flexible and am interested in all aspects of countryside management, conservation and environmental work.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. |

| Summary: | Following the completion of my MSc I am looking to develop vocational skills within the environmental sector, having so far concentrated on the academic side. I am a keen and fast learner, enthusiastic to pick up new skills from the workplace. Having partially financially supported my learning through both the BSc and MSc with a variety of part-time jobs I am no stranger to meeting and working with new people and as part of teams, having also learnt the invaluable skill of good time management! I currently live in York and having very much enjoyed my year here I am looking to stay and find employment within the Yorkshire area. Although having lived in various locations across the UK I am certainly not adverse to new places and would consider relocating. I very much look forward to the next stage of my life after education and the challenges it will bring. |
