I last year shadowed both forestry commission and rural payments and inspections staff during the summer. This gave me a great opportunity to work in a countryside environment and also helped me with many apsects of my degree.

Unfortunately, due to a flair-up of tendonitis in my wrists whilst chainsawing last year, a hand specialist recommended that I should avoid exposing myself to excessive periods of heavy manual work. Therefore my previous employer decided that I was no longer able to carry out my full range of duties and gave me a capability payment in December 2009.

Therefore, I am now looking for work with less emphasis on practical habitat management. Taking my experience and transferable skills into account, I consider myself suitable for fields of work such as environmental education, people engagement, ecology, Rights of Way, or training. My career aim is to become a head countryside ranger. I have been a senior manager for a visual impairment charity for 2 years and have been managing people and projects for over 10 years. 4 years experience as an assistant botanist with Royal Botanic Gardens Kew.

I have 6 months practical experience with Berks, Bucks & Oxford Wildlife Trust and I am currently volunteering with the National Trust in Cumbria. I see my career path as moving towards a science-based job in conservation, but I am keen to get a relevant job where I can develop my skills. I am computer literate and keen to learn.

My goal is to work in animal welfare and conservation combined, and eventually i aim to work in africa with big cats, that is my ultimate passion. I have experience with farmstock, domestic and exotic animals, but have not yet been able to fully gain hands on experience with wild uk animals. I will be volunteering at the RSPCA centre in leicester over the summer which will give me more valuable experience.

I am looking for the kick i will need after finishing my degree in 2011, and would appreciate any advice or offers avaliable, thank you, Kezza Cat!!!

Having worked in management positions in various business sectors, I now wish to have a change in career, with a focus on using my skills for the good of the environment or charity, and not merely for profit orientated business.

I grew up in the Trossachs and as such have always had a passion for the countryside, and am now at a stage where I would like to spend less time office based, and perhaps have a more active role in a countryside based job.
