As well as the experience that I have in paid jobs and voluntary work, I have studied for an Open University Degree in Environmental Studies (graduating in April 2006) and I have both a chainsaw and First Aid qualification.

I have an excellent working knowledge of the arboriculture industry, and of BS5837 and BS3998. I keep abreast of new methodology and legislation within the industry and am committed to continuing professional career development.

I have excellent people skills, and can work equally as well as part of a team or utilising lone working practices.

My knowledge of P.C. operations and programmes is of a high standard.

I have a clean driving license, which has up to 7.5t entitlement.

I have been employed as a countryside ranger in seasonal posts since 2003.

The work has taken me from the South coast of England to Scotland and I have enjoyed every posting and made a number of good friends.

Up to 1996 (when I attended the Scottish Agricultural College followed by Edinburgh University) I was variously employed in the rural sector, both in farming and by a local corporate entertainment company.

My strengths are in practical management activities but enjoy the variety that comes with educational and special interest groups.

I have a good general knowledge of and interest in flora and fauna with plants and trees being my strongest areas. I also have a developing interest in grasses, invertebrates and marine life.

I have the usual package of additional skills required of a ranger such as IT competence, first aid training, friendly manner, etc.

I have CS30+31 certificate in Chainsaw maintenance, crosscutting and felling small trees. I have been on a 12 week adult education course run by the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust covering a wide aspect of topics. I possess a Basic First Aid and Emergency certificate. I have passed a computer course, European Computer Driving Licence, which is europeanally recognised.

I have helped many different organisations with volunteer work, including BTCV, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, Derbyshire Conservation Volunteers and different “Friends of….” Groups.

I am looking to be employed in the conservation and wildlife sector. I have a real passion for the outdoors. I feel I have a lot to give and can utilise the skills I have gained and the passion I have.

I aim to develop my career within the countryside management sector and to become involved in a variety of specialised areas including habitat management, conservation and surveying, liasing with community groups and to promote an appreciation of our natural spaces.

I have been involved with targeted survey programmes including bat and newt (temporary GCN licence held), river monitoring, orchard protection surveys and currently appointed as a volunteer Tree Warden within my local Parish. I have also been volunteering with the rangers at Knettishall Heath Country Park one day a week for two years, which i feel has been extremely beneficial as it has given me the opportunity to put some of the skills i have learnt at college into practice.

Now I have completed the Foundation Degree i am in the search for permanent employment in the countryside sector, I feel that i am best suited to practical, outside work as i enjoy the physical aspect of that kind of work.

I have always been passionate about the environment and the efforts to conserve it so I am looking for a job that is focused upon an aspect of Ecology and Conservation including horticulture, forestry or part of a wildlife trust. I am just about to complete NVQ1 in Landbased Management, run by BTCV and Chichester College, in Eastleigh Council.

My career aim is to become a head countryside ranger. I have worked for 'The Broads Authority' on the Norfolk broads for two seasons and have gained a good understanding of the professional role of a ranger, especially within the legislative aspect. I enjoyed the job greatly but I knew my future existed off the water, which is why I gained further practical knowledge volunteering for Whitlingham Country Park and then working internationally for farms.

Currently I am seeking an assistant or volunteer role directly under a ranger so i can put all my knowledge and practical skills to use. I am happy to help in any tasks required; maintenance, construction, education or project management as I more than fully aware of the vast range of working skills required to become a ranger.

I currently reside near Norwich but am more than happy, if not completely expecting, to relocate to your area.

Currently working as a Contract Forester for the FC in the New Forest and studying towards a Foundation Degree in Lowland Woodland Management & Tree Care.

I am looking for an opportunity for work based training that will lead to a change of career for me into Environmental Conservation Management.

As well as the course below I also do volunteer work for British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) and I also work as part of the South Downs Volunteer Ranger Service.

I am currently doing a Plumpton College/BTCV Environmental Conservation NVQ Level 2 with Chainsaw Training Course two-days a week.
