In helping to protect and conserve this special place and in particular its woodlands, you’ll be working at the very heart of helping us achieve this.
As part of a team of skilled foresters, you’ll be involved in woodland and countryside management and visitor engagement over the whole Estate. From the thinning of plantation woodland, and utilising the produce in the estates developing sawmill enterprise, to caring for ancient trees and wonderful parkland, you’ll be hands on making sure that we’re presenting the woodlands to the highest standard.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust have a vacancy for a Water and Wetlands Officer
(Maternity Cover) 35 hrs p/w. The post is initially for 6 months with a possible extension for a further 6 months.
You will have an excellent knowledge of hydrology and wetland ecosystems, with the ability to see opportunities to create, develop and manage wetland sites. We need a project manager able to work closely with partners to turn ideas into reality. Your work will focus on our Living Landscape areas, working with local landowners. We are looking for a people person with the vision to identify potential projects and make them happen.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) need a Species Monitoring Assistant (job-share)

15 Hours per week
Provide administrative and data management support. You will assist with the coordination of WWT’s volunteer networks, process data from censuses and re-sightings of marked birds. You will also be required to assist with the production of newsletters and communicate in other ways with the volunteer networks in order to maintain their enthusiasm.

The Peak District NPA have an opening fo an Ecologist
An experienced Ecologist is required for 3 days per week, or equivalent, to provide maternity cover within the National Park Authority’s Natural Environment Team. The postholder will provide nature conservation advice on all aspects of the Authority’s work, particularly planning issues but also agri-environment schemes, management of Authority-owned land and Biodiversity Action Plan work.

National Trust have vacancies for 3 Rangers
Working as part of the North Cornwall Property Team, you’ll be required to carry out a wide variety of countryside management tasks, including organising and running events to engage supporters, providing information and access, landscaping and nature conservation. You’ll also help organise National Trust Working Holidays, employee volunteering opportunities and the voluntary ranger service as a means of completing specific projects. With a keen eye for detail, you’ll help maintain the high standards of presentation at access points, car parks, rights of way (including the South West Coast path), beeches and open land. One Ranger will be based at Stowe Barton (about four miles north of Bude) covering the area from Boscastle to Morwenstow, and two Rangers will be based at Pentireglaze (near Polzeath) to cover the area from Tintagel to Holywell. These roles will involve Bank Holiday working, regular evening work and up to 25 weekends per annum.

National Trust require an Agricultural Environmental Officer
Part time, 22.5 hours per week. Help us to set up, co-ordinate and deliver our agricultural stewardship schemes across the Peak District – a vast area of outstanding walking country. As part of this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for the conversion of existing Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA)/Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) agreements to Higher Level Scheme agreements and take the lead in writing Farm Environment Plans in relation to Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) applications. You’ll also be responsible for the submission of these grant schemes.Putting your excellent communication skills to good use, you’ll listen to the comments and views of other property staff, regional advisors, tenants, Natural England and other partners, to make sure that the aspiration and potential of each farm is realised wherever possible. You’ll also support tenant farmers in the transition period between schemes and advise on other agricultural schemes which will support their farm business.
